Ebony, an extremely rare hardwood, has been used for centuries as a grip material for swords and knives. In ancient Egypt, ebony could only be used by members of the nobility. Today it is extremely rare, but is available on a limited basis from Eagle Grips. Ebony varies in coloring from charcoal gray to black, with a deep black grain pattern. Ebony grips are available in a variety of styles with either a smooth or hand-checkered finish.
