Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I know if my S&W revolver has a round or square butt?

A. Until recently, some S&W revolver frames were offered in round or square butt backstrap configuration, depending on the frame and model. Although your gun may look like a square butt, it could be a round butt. Please click here to identify your frame.

Q. How long will it take to ship my order?

A. The vast majority of our orders are shipped within 5-11 days after receipt of order. However, custom grips such as American Elk, Ultra Ivory, Stag, Mother of Pearl, and Buffalo Horn could take 4-6 weeks.

Q. Do you ship C.O.D ?

A. Sorry, In order to keep costs down we do not ship C.O.D .

Q. Do I have to pay sales tax ?

A. Federal Law doesn't require us to charge tax for items shipped across state lines, but you will be charged sales tax if you are having the merchandise shipped to an address in Illinois.

Q. I have some questions, when can I call you?

A. We are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 4:30 central time. We are not open on weekends.

Q. Do you have a showroom?

A. Yes, we do have a showroom and the customers are welcomed during normal working hours which are from 9:00 am till 4:00 pm central time. We are located approximately 35 miles west of the occupied city of Chicago. Click here for directions.

Q. What makes your gunfighter grips for Ruger and Colt type single actions different from original factory grips?

A. Gunfighter grips differ from factory grips in their overall width and contour. This shape, we believe, improves the pointability of the gun.The contour between the thumb and finger allows the shooters hand to roll with the recoil and recover for a second shot more quickly. Click here to see the difference.

Q. How do I know if my Ruger Super Blackhawk has a round or squared trigger guard?

A. Generally, the older Super Blackhawks had longer grip frames when compared to the Blackhawk/Vaquero. These longer frames were squared off at the rear of the trigger guard. Please click here to see the difference.

Q. I have Colt Cobra, Agent, Diamondback and Detective Special. Do you make grips for these guns?

A. We make many types of grips for these guns.
For Older versions of these guns:- We recommend looking at the picture here to help identify your particular frame because the frames vary considerably. Please pay particular attention to the bottom edges of the grip frame. If you are unsure as to what kind of frame your gun has, feel free to contact us at our toll free number 800-323-6144.
For Newer Versions:- Most of todays Detective Specials, Diamondbacks and DS-II's use the shorter, more squared-off grip frame. The difference between the two frames can be seen by clicking here.

Q. Do I have to send my gun to Eagle Grips?

A. If you have a frame or gun that we do not have patterns or templates for, it may be necessary to have your gun available for proper fitting purposes. But, Because laws frequently change, please check with the guidelines provided by Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms for shipping handguns. They are the regulatory body controlling the interstate shipment of firearms. Or perhaps your favorite gunshop can help.

For S&W revolvers:- Our grips generally fit these revolvers without extensive fitting on your part. They usually fit right out of the box. For the ultimate fit you do have the option of having your grips custom fitted to your revolver. Of course there are added shipping costs, but Eagle Grips does not charge for custom fitting these grips. If you are interested please call our toll free number for further information.
Colt single action revolvers and their clones:- All Colt Single Action/clone revolvers require extensive fitting. Our grips are made oversized. Fitting these grips requires sanding/polishing and drilling to make them fit. This may be done by your gunsmith or by us. We regularly fit these types of firearms for individuals and firearm manufacturers on a daily basis. If you prefer to have Eagle Grips custom fit your SAA there are two options. First option, you can send the complete firearm to us UNLOADED. Our charge for this service is $48.00 in addition to the price of the grip you are having fitted. Second option, for the following firearms ( Colt SAA, Uberti, Cimarron, A.W.A., and E.M.F.) If you do not wish to send the entire revolver we will still require the backstrap and trigger guard. It has to be removed from the frame. Our charge for this fitting is $48.00 in addition to the price of the grips. We cannot custom alter our grips to drawings, pictures, hand sizes or diagrams.
Rugers:- Most Ruger frames are consistent unless the frame has been modified, therefore, your Eagle Grips should fit directly from the package to your firearm. Some may require moderate adjustments. Please call our toll free number if you have the new Ruger Vaquero in 32 H&R Magnum.
Antique, Replica Antique revolvers and Black Powder:- Questions regarding these firearms are best handled by speaking to an Eagle Grip technician.

Q. I did not see my firearm listed on your price sheet. Can you custom make grips for this firearm?

A. We are a full manufacturing facility. We can custom make many grips for most firearms. Please call us for further information.

Q. What is your return policy?

A. Please see the terms and conditions on our home page.

Q. If I have my own material, will you produce a set of grips for my firearm?

A. Yes, we can, but call us in person on our toll free number to avoid any misunderstanding.

Q. How durable are your grips?

A. Wood grips such as Rosewood and Ebony are strong and durable;.. They stand up to the heavier magnum loads. Materials such as Ultra Imitation Ivory and white polymer are not as durable as wood. The best use would be Cowboy Action and light low recoil loads. Mother of Pearl grips, on the other hand, are very fragile and delicate. They are best used with low recoil handguns or strictly for display. Buffalo Horn, Stag and American Elk are extremely strong and durable.
